Feature and Follow Friday #14: The One Involving Hardsell

Feature and Follow is a weekly blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read!

Bookselling Time: Go to your biggest bookcases. Go to the second shelf from the top and pick out the sixth book from the left. Hardsell that book to us – even if you haven’t read it or if you hated it. (if you don’t have bookcases, don’t have six books on one shelf, etc, pick a book at random)

The sixth book from the second (and bottom) shelf of my bookcase is Cat Girl's Day Off by Kimberly Pauley. CHECK IT OUT ON GOODREADS HERE

For movie buffs, it's Ferris Bueller's Day Off meets quirky cat person with superpowers!

If you're a cat person, it has the most kickass protagonist ever who can talk to cats! These cats aren't just signposts for the main character to solve the mystery, or whatever. No! They have personality! Some of them are snobby to the point of seeming royal, some cheeky while the others are plain adorable. And at one point, there's a whole army of cats!

If you love pop culture, you'll like Nat's celeb-obsessed friends and Easton West, a celeb blogger who reminded me a little of Perez Hilton in the beginning!

If you have a soft spot for the underdog, you'll love how Natalie (that's the protagonist) shows the world that it's not just invisibility or lie detection that are the *major* superpowers that count.

If you feel minority characters aren't given enough importance in books or just exist as token characters, once again... meet Natalie! And her friend Oscar!

If you like a good crazy, how-did-they-get-even-here?!, barely-takes-place-in-a-day, movie-within-a-book story with the best characters and the best cat quotes, Cat Girl's Day Off will feel like it's written for you! :)

Spine Poetry! (Feature and Follow Friday #12)

Feature and Follow is a weekly blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read!

Q: Activity: Spine Poetry. Create a line of poetry with your book spines (take a picture). Not feeling creative? Tell us about your favorite poem.

I love this week's question. Not sure if my spine poem qualifies but I had a great time piling up books to come up with one that left me thinking a bit :)

She's Come Undone
Love story forgotten
The lover's dictionary
catching fire-
the splendour falls.
She's come undone.

Feature and Follow: Follow Friday #7

Feature and Follow is a weekly blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read!

Question of the week: Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

Um, not really. I couldn't really say that. But I have bought a lot of books in spite of the bad reviews they have gotten. There might be a book with really bad reviews and just few good reviews and I might still buy it because the plot sounds amazing or I'd read anything that particular author writes! And you know what? There are some books with mostly-bad reviews that I have really liked, so it has paid off.

Generally though, even if a book has received rave reviews, I still like to check out the few 2 star reviews it has gotten because that gives me more realistic expectations and I'm more ready to read the book!

What about you?

Now that it's up, don't forget to check out my 100 followers giveaway for a chance to win a 10$ gift card from Amazon! :)

Feature and Follow: Follow Friday #6

Feature and Follow is a weekly blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read!

Question of the week: Activity!!! Take a picture or describe where you love to read the most.

I mostly read in bed but sometimes I also read in the couch in front of the TV upstairs or curled up in the sofa downstairs. Anywhere comfy where I can curl up in a comfortable position and get lost in the story will do! I love reading downstairs when it's raining, especially. The sound of the rain hitting against the window is so soothing! I don't have the right pictures but here is one of the window near the sofa.

Follow Friday #5

Feature and Follow is a weekly blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read!

Question of the week: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?

Self Help and Horror. I do not believe in reading Self Help because mostly, I don't think it works for me. As for Horror... I've never been a fan of the genre. I don't even like watching scary movies, so books are out of the question. I don't like getting freaked out. Then again, I've never given the genre a chance. I just assume such books wouldn't appeal to me. When my friends were reading R. L Stine in the sixth grade, I just... didn't.

Follow Friday #4

It's Feature and Follow My Blog #2 for me. Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read!

Question of the Week: Many readers/bloggers are also big music fans. Tell us about a few of your favorite bands/singers that we should listen to in 2012.

I haven't bought any new CDs or checked out new artists for a looong, long time but my all time favourites include...

THE SCRIPT. I cannot describe their fabulousness. They are AMAZING. I like each and every song of theirs! I loved their first album. Breakeven, We Cry and The Man Who Can't Be Moved are all great songs. As for their second album, Science and Faith, I listen to it in my car every single day! NOTHING, FOR THE FIRST TIME and SCIENCE AND FAITH are amazing. I can listen to them all day!

DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE. 'Cause it's Seth Cohen's favourite band. AND it's the best! I liked their album Plans as well as Narrow Stairs. I Will Follow You Into The Dark has got to be the most beautiful song ever.

PANIC! AT THE DISCO. For their first album A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. I loved the mini-stories and clever lyrics.

GLEE CAST. For their fun mash-ups and how most of their covers are even better than the original! They immortalised Journey's already awesome Don't Stop Believin'.

ADELE. She has a great voice and there is just so much more to all her songs. Rolling in The Deep gave me the chills.

TAYLOR SWIFT. She writes her own lyrics and I respect that! Also, her songs make a lot of sense and are from the heart. There is so much of HER in all her songs.

IMOGEN HEAP. For Speeding Cars and Hide 'n Seek. I'm transported to another world when I listen to her songs.

That's all, I think. Have a great weekend!

Follow Friday #3

It's Feature and Follow My Blog #2 for me. Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read!

Question of the Week: Go count the number of unread books sitting on your shelf. How many?

25. Not much considering the numbers I've seen in other blogs but ALL of these unread books have accumulated over the past year. The year before the last, I never had enough books to read. Now I barely have the time to read. I guess it's hard to have it good both ways.

Follow Friday #2

It's Feature and Follow My Blog #2 for me. Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read!

Question of the Week: The New Year is here -- and everyone wants to know your New Years Blogging Resolution! What are you going to try to revise, revamp and redo for 2012 on your blog?

Ah, let's see. My blog is still two months young and there's a LOT I have to do to keep it going!

-  Get organised. College reopens in two days so I'm going to have way less free time. I need a schedule or I won't be able to post as frequently.
- Post more! Post as muuch as possible each week! 4 times a week would be fab!
- Variety in posts. Keep the memes and the reviews but also post on other book-related things.
- Get connected. Comment more, tweet more and get more out there! I'm pretty involved with commenting but as I said... the focus is on more.
- Keep it fresh! Because I'm still finding my voice.
- Have fun! That goes without saying. The past two months have been a blast so I don't see why next year won't be any less exciting! :)

Follow Friday!

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkie and Alison Can Read. It's my first time and it looks like tons of fun!

This week's question...
If you had to spend eternity in a book, which book would you choose and why?
A part of me screams HARRY POTTER, DUH! How could I say no to an eternity of Quidditch, being schooled at Hogwarts, shutting people up with spells and chillin' with some butterbeer at The Three Broomsticks? Best world ever! Which is why the day I finally get to go to the Harry Potter theme park will, I'm sure, be the happiest day of my life!

The other part of me says, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! Because... well, because. It involves partying with the Oompa Loompas and an unlimited and awesomely made supply of chocolate!
